William Fisher

Mr. William P. Fisher

Fisher, 47, of Camillus, was treasurer of Onondaga County Executive Joanne Mahoney’s 2007 county executive campaign and, after she won, director of her transition team. He later took a seat on the Onondaga County Public Library board of trustees. He also served as one of Mahoney’s three appointees to the Upstate Mandate Relief Commission, a panel set up by the Onondaga, Monroe, and Erie county executives to make recommendation to state officials for reducing the burdens imposed on the counties by Albany.

Fisher also chairs Mahoney’s Fresh Start Political Action Committee, which he described in April as a group formed to recruit potential candidates and others who support Mahoney’s economic development and government modernization ideas. Fisher said he is resigning his campaign positions.

An Onondaga County native, Fisher is a graduate of Yale University and holds a master’s degree from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship. He was chief executive officer of Summit Software Co. from 1991 until he resigned to accept his new post. He retains an ownership stake in the business.
